Dr. David Schecter

Dr. David Schecter is currently the Vice Provost at CSUB, working for Dr. Jenny Zorn, our Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.  He has been with CSUB since January of 2014 and before that he served for 13 years at Fresno State in the Political Science Department.  
David was born and raised in Florida, received his BS in History and Social Science and his MS in Political Science from Florida State University.  He went on to earn his PhD from the University of Florida and in 2013 he completed an Executive MBA with Honors from the Craig School of Business at Fresno State.  His research interests include State and Local Politics, party politics and elections.

Dr. Jeanine Kraybill

Dr. Jeanine Kraybill is an Assistant Professor of Political Science and Pre Law Advisor at California State University, Bakersfield., where she teaches research methods, pre law related courses and classes on government institutions, particularly the Court and Presidency.  Her research focuses on the presidency, gender, and the intersection of religion and politics.  She has written articles that examines religious elite political influence in a gendered and institutional context, via the  United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Leadership Conference of Women Religious, including a recent book manuscript.  She also studies the Rhetorical Presidency and how language is employed by the executive and presidential candidates to influence the political process.  Before joining the Department of Political Science at Cal State Bakersfield, Professor Kraybill was a lecturer at the University of California, Riverside and taught at several community colleges throughout Southern California.   Along with being an educator since 2003, she's also studied at the Leon Panetta Public Policy Institute and worked on Capitol Hill as a Congressional Intern. Dr. Kraybill graduated with her PhD in Political Science from Claremont Graduate University in 2015

Dr. Mark Martinez

Dr. Mark Martinez is Professor and Chair of Political Science at California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB). He earned his B.A. in political science and economics (minor) from California State University, Chico, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1998). Professor Martinez’s book, The Myth of the Free Market: The Role of the State in a Capitalist Economy (Kumarian Press, 2009), reviews state-market relations, the role of the state in creating wealth, and analyzes the forces behind the 2008 market meltdown. Professor Martinez’ book has won praise from a wide range of economists and public policy experts alike. Professor Martinez has published peer reviewed articles and book chapters, served as a professional reviewer for academic journals and professional editing houses, and presented his research at professional conferences across the U.S., Mexico, and Asia. Professor Martinez is currently working on his second book, tentatively titled Is History Whispering in Our Ear?
