Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week: Internet Resources

Hunger is a big challenge, but together we can solve it. We approach ending food insecurity from every angle. We make healthy food easier to access. We help families feel financially secure. We support laws that make food available to everyone. The Feeding America nationwide network of food banks and pantries makes a difference. Together, we can create a future where everyone thrives.

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is designed to educate the public, draw attention to the problem of poverty, and build up the base of volunteers and supporters for local anti-poverty agencies. Groups spend this week generating publicity about hunger and homelessness and holding a series of events to engage their communities. This amazing event was first held at Villanova University in 1975. This year, more than 700 colleges, high schools, and community groups across the country will come together during this week to raise awareness about the pressing issues of hunger and homelessness.

Every day, we work alongside of our 42 member food banks and on behalf of hungry Californians. We ensure food banks have the tools and resources they need, so they can focus on what they do best: feed our communities. We believe adequate nourishment is a human right, and that ending hunger in our state is both essential and possible.
